RADIESSE® volumising filler is a safe injectable filler that is
aiming to set a new standard for the correction of moderate to
severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds.
RADIESSE® is also the ideal filler to restore the youthful contours
of the face and is therefore often used in the cheeks and for the
jawline. RADIESSE® is also used very successfully for hand
The product is available in two different syringe sizes:
RADIESSE® volumising filler 0.8ml: for moderate lines and folds,
for early signs of ageing
RADIESSE® volumising filler 1.5ml: for severe lines and folds, for
volumising and contouring
The portfolio of RADIESSE® volumising filler syringes offers the
flexibility to treat a full range of patients.
RADIESSE® is available in two sizes according to your needs.
RADIESSE® offers value through convenience.
In the United States, RADIESSE® volumising filler is approved by
the FDA for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles
and folds around the nose and mouth. In addition,
RADIESSE®volumising filler is approved for the restoration and
correction of the signs of HIV-associated facial lipoatrophy. It
fills and volumises to correct the signs of facial fat loss and to
restore a natural look.
In Europe, RADIESSE® volumising filler is CE-marked for plastic and
reconstructive surgery, including deep and sub-dermal soft tissue
augmentation of the facial area. The use of RADIESSE® is not
recommended for lip augmentation and not for the treatment of very
superficial areas. RADIESSE® should not be used in the glabellar
region for the correction of frown lines.
Radiesse should be injected deeply and lightly moulded
In July 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a
method for mixing RADIESSE®volumising filler with lidocaine, which
has demonstrated an improvement in patient comfort and an increase
in patient satisfaction with RADIESSE® volumising filler
procedures.* Dermal filler procedures can create some level of
patient discomfort due to injection pain. Being able to mix
RADIESSE® volumising filler with lidocaine has been proven to
provide a significant advantage in improving patient comfort. In
studies, 90% of patients reported significant pain reduction when
RADIESSE® volumising filler was mixed with lidocaine. In Europe,
this technique is not approved by the Health Authorities.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a safe, FDA approved injectable dermal filler used for
facial contouring and augmentation. Radiesse injections will
immediately contour, correct and beautify facial features, while
restoring a natural, long lasting youthful look with no downtime.
Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite, a biocompatible
substance that’s identical to what’s naturally found in the body.
When injected into the skin, these unique, patented, calcium
hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres initially perform as a filler.
Over time, your body will gradually absorb the Radiesse itself, but
at that same time, Radiesse will stimulate new collagen production.
Your own body’s own collagen will eventually totally replace the
Radiesse microspheres providing a natural, and long lasting result.
How do Radiesse injections work?
Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill-in facial lines and
wrinkles. It rebuilds your skin’s foundation. Tiny calcium-based
microspheres form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth
of your own collagen to create a natural, full, youthful look. Over
time your body absorbs the gel carrier while your collagen grows
and infiltrates the area. The Radiesse microspheres continue to
provide the support and structure for your body to grow new tissue
and collagen until the microspheres are also safely and naturally
absorbed by your body.
How long does Radiesse last?
Treatment results last one to two years – or more for many
patients! Individual results may vary, depending on age, skin type,
lifestyle, and metabolic rate.
How soon can I expect results from my Radiesse treatment?
Results can be seen immediately!
Is Radiesse safe?
In years of rigorous clinical testing and use by physicians in
hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide, Radiesse has been
proven to be safe and effective. Radiesse is made of calcium
hydroxylapatite, a biocompatible substance that’s identical to
what’s naturally found in the body. The material is identical in
composition to the mineral portion of teeth and bone, thus it is
inherently safe. After injection, Radiesse will not migrate to
other parts of the body. Over time, it degrades naturally into
calcium and phosphate ions that are safely metabolized by the
body’s own processes.
Will I need a skin test?
Radiesse is made of a synthetic, biocompatible substance that’s
identical to what’s naturally found in the body. Because Radiesse
does not contain any unatural components, there’s virtually no risk
of an allergic reaction. That means you do not need to undergo skin
allergy testing prior to treatment.
Are there any side effects of a Radiesse injections?
Normal, injection-related reactions such as mild irritation, edema,
swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection
site may occur. These conditions typically resolve on their own
within one to two days, but may last longer. As with any injection
there exists a chance of infection. Bruising can occur with any
injection and can last up to a few weeks, depending on how rapidly
Where can Radiesse be used?
Radiesse can be used to “fill in” wrinkles, furrows and depressions
around the nose and mouth, including the nasolabial folds,
marionette lines, and smile lines. It can also be used to reshape
the nose, reduce eye bags, contour the cheekbones and fill the
cheeks, making you look younger and refreshed instantly.
How painful are Radiesse injections?
Injections of any filler may cause some discomfort during and after
the injection. Radiesse contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to
help relieve this discomfort. A numbing cream can be applied for
about 30 to 60 minutes prior to the procedure. If you would like to
numbe before your injections, just let us know!
Will Radiesse become hard or noticeable to the touch?
No. Radiesse stays soft and will take on the characteristics of the
Is Radiesse permanent?
Treatment results last a long time, but they are not permanent. The
tiny, calcium-based microspheres in Radiesse eventually break down
into calcium and phosphate ions. These ions are safely and
naturally absorbed into your body, leaving your own newly produced
collagen in place.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of syringes needed at the time of treatment will depend
on how much correction is needed and your overall goal. Many
patients will achieve their desired result after just one Radiesse
treatment. However, to ensure your satisfaction, we recomend a
follow-up visit within 1 to 2 weeks at which point a touchup
treatment might be recommended.
